I have heard it said: "Everything is made new in Christ." This has taken on more and more meaning for me as I reflect and pray about it. Sometimes as a mom, all the days seem the same and can be more than a little monotonous, but then all over a sudden I realize how much time has gone by and just how much my children (and I) have grown. The whole "paint it over idea" reminds me of the "everything is made new in Christ" ethic. With God's help the mundane looks much more colorful and beautiful as I find Christ's love in all things, especially my children.

Thanks Julie...(by the way when I read this I thought of your incredible artsy looking color coded notes that were always so gorgeous to see when sitting next to you in class)

I can so relate to ALL of those emotions. Mothers are so busy doing, and never having time off, they lose sight doing something without a purpose or (obvious) end result. Mitch Albom had a piece in the Sunday magazine insert about kids needing to take the summer off and not have days filled with camp, play dates, etc. My childhood summers were spent doing "nothing" and they are my best memories. Perhaps we are creating a culture where no one has time to experiment and learn from a process rather than a means to an end.
