I hear what you're saying, in as much as we are social by our very nature. God is a community of Three Persons; we are created in God's image and likeness (Gen 1:26-17); we need community. But there is a difference between love as an active verb (something you do or generously give) and the "desire to be loved." The "desire" indicates an inordinate focus on receiving - on what I can get out of the experience. I read it as a selfishness or neediness, as opposed to grounding oneself in God's love with confident knowledge of being loved by the Creator of the Universe. I read it as struggling with "needing to be liked." So it's never a question of being loved, it's petitioning God to be delivered from a self-centered desire.

Please let me know if that clarifies (and resonates) or if I misunderstood your comment.

I struggle with the line "From the desire of being loved." The context of this litany seems to be in our relationship to others, so it seems we should not desire to be loved by others. This seems contrary to our human nature. We all want to love and to be loved at the human level.
